Salt Lake City UPS Project
Newman Construction, in partnership with Layton Construction, delivered the $7.96M Salt Lake City UPS project, completing mass grading, water, sewer, and storm drain infrastructure entirely in-house. The project highlights our expertise in fast-track, design-build site development, value engineering, and large-scale commercial civil construction.

Newman Construction’s Salt Lake City UPS Project, delivered as a design-build in partnership with Layton Construction, encompassed the civil and utility scope for a major logistics facility. Newman completed extensive mass grading operations, including over 79,000 CY of cut-to-fill and 289,000 CY of import fill. Key installations included 8,840 LF of 8” water main, 11,200 LF of 15” RCP storm drain, and 3,687 LF of sewer pipeline.
The team utilized nine 621 scrapers, multiple dozers, and compactors to execute the mass grading efficiently. The project also benefited from a $1 million cost-saving recommendation by Newman’s team, which involved lowering the site grade by one foot. With a total project value of $7.96 million, the work was entirely self-performed by Newman and completed on schedule.
This project highlighted Newman Construction’s ability to lead large-scale, fast-track, design-build site developments. From value engineering to full utility implementation, it reinforced the company’s expertise in executing complex commercial infrastructure projects.
