Recognizing Opportunity in the Workforce
The 52nd Annual Golden Key Awards, presented by the Utah Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities, recognize employers and individuals who help create meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities throughout Utah.
Newman Construction was nominated by LeAnn Robinson for the Freedom Award, which specifically recognizes employers for their work hiring and retaining veterans with disabilities.
For a company built around hard work, experience and people who know how to get the job done, the recognition reflects something that has long been part of Newman’s culture: looking beyond labels and recognizing the value an individual can bring to a team.

Experience That Matters
Veterans bring a unique set of skills to the construction industry—discipline, accountability, adaptability, leadership and the ability to work as part of a team when the stakes are high.
Those qualities translate naturally to the kind of work Newman crews perform every day.
As highlighted in the video produced for the award, Newman’s approach isn’t about lowering expectations or treating people differently. It’s about understanding what someone is capable of, providing opportunities to succeed, and valuing the experience and perspective they bring to the job.
That philosophy strengthens the individual, the crew and ultimately the company.

Honored Among Utah Employers
Newman received the Freedom Award on September 24, 2026, during the 52nd Annual Golden Key Awards at the Zions Bank Technology Center in Midvale, Utah.
The recognition was part of the Disability:IN Utah Summit and celebrated organizations and individuals working to expand employment opportunities for Utahns with disabilities.
For Newman, the award is an honor—but the people behind it are what matter most.
With more than 90 years of history in Utah construction, Newman has learned that a company's greatest strength isn't found in its equipment or the size of the projects it builds. It's found in the people who show up every day ready to contribute, learn and get the job done.

Building a Stronger Crew
We're grateful to LeAnn Robinson for nominating Newman Construction and to the Utah Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities for this recognition.
More importantly, we're proud of the veterans and other members of the Newman team whose experience, resilience and hard work continue to make this company stronger.
Different experiences. Shared standards. One crew.
